- the development of touring exhibitions by individual artists and curators
- production of site specific installations by international artists affiliated with Ferrin Contemporary
- production of exhibitions related to artworks produced at Project Art and the Studios at MASS MoCA
Located in Building 13 on MASS MoCA’s 16-acre campus, IAP is directed by Leslie Ferrin and provides exhibition space for curated projects and artists affiliated Ferrin Contemporary. IAP is a short walk from the museum’s front door where in 2017, eight new artist foundations are scheduled to open in Building 6, fully utilizing the site that develops, presents large scale installations of visual arts along with film, performance and seasonal music festivals. Above IAP in Building 13 are The Studios at MASS MoCA providing space for short term artist residencies and think tank style research and The Artist Book Foundation a not-for-profit organization for the development and distribution of artists books and catalogs.
Project Art is located in nearby Cummington, MA where ceramic studios are available for short term rentals. In addition to Building 13, throughout the “World of MASS MoCA” there are professional art handlers and fabricators available to help design and build the components of an exhibition and create specialized crating for the shipment and travel of fragile works.
IAP in conjunction with Ferrin Contemporary is available to develop and manage exhibition marketing and communication materials in print and digital formats and distribution using their wide network of contacts including museums, commercial and not-for-profit galleries, media, art professionals and private collectors throughout the US.
“We are excited to have IAP and the galleries on the MASS MoCA Campus where they join our vibrant and symbiotic community of Northern Berkshire artists, makers, and professionals working together to revitalize North Adams. All of our tenants play a vital role in supporting the museum’s mission and all rental income directly supports our operations and facilities,” said Larry Smallwood, Deputy Director, COO at MASS MoCA.
OUR LOCATION
IAP and Ferrin Contemporary are located at 1315 MASS MoCA Way on Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA)’s campus, in North Adams, Mass, approx. three hours driving from New York City and Boston.
